I will be taking a group of kids from St. Ambrose to Wisp on Monday Jan 2, 2012.  School is still out and Wisp has a great deal on Mondays that start on Jan 2.

Here’s their deal:  ALL DAY from 9am – 5pm — $29 Lift Ticket, Sport Ski or Snowboard Rental & 60-minute clinic!

We may only have enough kids to fill one van – but in any case, you are welcome to join us.  I’d like to pair skiers up with kids so the kids have a good experience.  OR – if you just want to join us that day, let me know and I’ll make sure we all meet in the morning.  Van seats are $11 each.  We plan to leave Wisp at 5 pm.

Cross your fingers for snow.  I called today and they had 4 trails opened.

Mother Nature has not been her normal snowy self yet this winter, but never
fear…she will eventually arrive! In the meantime Holiday Valley has been
making snow at every available opportunity. Attached are photos showing the
10 to 15 foot mounds of manmade snow on the Northwind trail.
These mounds were made over 2 nights when the temperatures dropped to the
low 20′s and teens. The crew lets the snow “cure” for a day then the mounds
are spread out over the slope with a hydraulic grooming tractor.
After the anticipated snowfall on Friday night the slope will be groomed
once again to open for skiing on Saturday. Holiday Valley currently has
6 slopes open and has made snow on and additional 6 slopes that they
anticipate will open over the weekend.

We had a very successful Resort Night on November 7 and the biggest crowd in years. There were almost 90 people in attendance with us picking up some new members. The Silent Auction brought in over $500. Thanks to all who donated items and those who bought them. There were 30 items donated and bought by
Club members. We will use the money to offset the costs of the night.

Thanks also to Bill forbeing the “Master of Prizes” not only at Resort Night but at every Ski Club meeting. He is one of our most hard working and valuable members. What would we do without him!

ENORMOUS THANKS to Linda and Dave Cyrus for their excellent job of catering the food and beverages for the night – I could never have done that without you all. Also thanks to Linda who helped me set up tables and did the beautiful decorations. I also want to thank the “Techno Team” Debbie Johnston and Don Tanner. Thank you to Becky Tanner – “gatekeeper extraordinaire”. Thanks to all who arranged and then rearranged the tables and chairs and helped clean up the building. Also thanks to Bob Hein who got up early and appeared on the WTAP Daybreak Show to plug the Ski Club and Resort Night.

This was truly a SKI CLUB event with many, many workers and helpers. It could not have been accomplished without everyone’s help and I truly, truly appreciate everyone who helped in any way. If I forgot anyone, I apologize and please accept my Thanks.
